How To Clear Filter Light On Samsung Refrigerator

Samsung DA29-00020B, HAF-CIN/EXP Premium Refrigerator Water Filter (White, 2 pack)

Most Samsung refrigerators feature filter light indicators to notify the user when the water filter needs to be replaced. It also means that after replacing the filter, you need to reset the filter light in the Samsung refrigerator.

But why is that?

Typically, the maximum number of months to use a water filter is 6 months.

However, a replacement may be required depending on the type of water that flows through the waterline. For instance, if the water is hard, then you may need to change the filter within 3 to 4 months after installation.

Except you notice a change in taste, there will be no way to tell that your filter needs to be changed without the filter light.

How Samsung Water Filter Indicator Works

Depending on the model you have, the Samsung water filter shows a blue or green color when the water filter is still good for use.

After 5 months or 450 gallons, it changes to an orange or light pink color. Often, this color change is an indication that you need to change the water filter.

After 6 months or 500 gallons, your water filter indicator will turn red. Once you spot this red light, change the water filter. If you wait any longer, you may start to notice particles in your drinking water.

Meanwhile, in areas where there's excess limescale in the water, you'll need to change your water filter earlier than 6 months.
